Toast gently
Use fresh marshmallows and a long roasting skewer. Hold them beside or above the coals, away from direct flames, and rotate slowly. Let the center soften as the surface turns golden.
Give the chocolate a head start
Place a thin, single layer of chocolate on an intact graham cracker. Warm it gently on a plate at a safe distance from the fire while you toast the marshmallow.
Clamp, slide, wait
Place the marshmallow onto the chocolate, add the top cracker, and press gently while pulling the skewer straight out. Let the sandwich rest for a few seconds before taking a small bite.
A thoughtful finish
Supervise children around hot skewers and fires. Pack out foil, wrappers, and food scraps. Extinguish the fire completely before bed.
